The high-powered Bradwell Institute offense is going to face a stingy McIntosh County Academy defense Friday night at Hokey Jackson Stadium/Olvey Field.
The Buccaneers (2-2) have yielded just 24 points, including two shutouts, in four games. One of those losses was a 14-6 defeat at the hands of Class AAAAAA Glynn Academy.
Freshman Earnest McIntosh ran for 114 yards and a touchdown in MCA’s season-opening 26-0 win over Johnson. Junior Derrick Irons recorded 10 tackles, four for losses, against the Atom Smashers. The Red Terrors held the Bucs to 95 yards rushing and 143 yards of total offense before MCA posted an 18-0 win over West Nassau (Fla.), notching 10 tackles for losses and its third safety of the season.
The Bucs are coming off a 10-0 loss to Lanier County that knocked them out of the Class A Division II state rankings. Lanier held MCA to 111 yards of offense, but the Bucs defense recorded nine tackles for losses.
Bradwell, 1-3, is coming off its first bye week. Senior quarterback Christopher Garrett leads Class 5A with 1,118 yards passing and has thrown for nine touchdowns. Junior receiver Tyon Jones tops Class 5A with 499 yards receiving on 19 catches. He also has four TD receptions, topping the three scores he had as a sophomore.
