CLAXTON — Martin NeSmith, the president of NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC in Claxton and NeSmith Chevrolet Buick GMC of Jesup, announced that the dealership is the title sponsor for the Swing Thought Golf Tour for a third year.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Classic will be at Sapelo Hammock Golf Club in Shellman Bluff from July 18-23. The weeklong tournament features professional golfers. In addition to the professional tournament, there are several events scheduled, including the NeSmith Chevrolet Classic Junior Clinic and a pro-am.
A portion of the tournament proceeds will benefit the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes. Admission is free to the public.

The tournament week will begin July 18 with practice rounds starting at 7:30 a.m. The Shoot Out sponsored by American Financial and Automotive Services start at 3 p.m.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Classic Junior Clinic starts at 4:30. And the final event that day will be the pro-am parings party starting at 7.
The junior clinic is free and open to all juniors from beginner to advanced players, ages 5-18. All juniors are encouraged to watch the Swing Thought Tour players’ shots. Each junior will get a chance to hit shots with the support of the tour professionals. Clubs will be provided by the
Sapelo Hammock Golf Academy for juniors who do not have clubs. Juniors will receive a logo golf ball and a complementary round of golf at Sapelo Hammock.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Classic Pro-Am on July 19 will begin with registration and lunch sponsored by Coastal Home Care at noon. The pro-am will have a shotgun start at 1, and the day will conclude with an awards reception and dinner. The pro-am will pair three amateurs with a tour professional in a scramble format.
The first round of the 2016 NeSmith Chevrolet Classic will begin at 7:30 a.m. July 20. The final round will be played on July 23.
The Classic is one of 15 stops in the Swing Thought Tour Pro Series of 2016. Its promotional material says it is third in the United States golfing to the PGA and Nationwide Tours. The Swing Thought Tour has helped more professionals acquire their PGA, Euro, Senior PGA and Nationwide Tour cards than any other developmental tour in the United States.
