Two Panthers earn first-team all-region honors

Two Liberty County Panthers earned football all-region first team honors, and another four were selected to the all-region second team by region coaches.

Senior wide receiver Jaden Hurd and senior defensive back Ryan Golden were named to the first team. Hurd had 393 yards and three touchdowns on 20 receptions. Golden accounted for 48 tackles, four passes defensed and two interceptions.

Making the second team were sophomore wide receiver Aaron Brown, senior offensive lineman William Buckley, senior defensive lineman Anquan Roberts and junior linebacker Tyrese Alexis. 

Earning honorable mention were offensive linemen Carson Carter and Edward Spencer, quarterback Jah’Barri Felix, running backs Brandon Roberts and Elijah Brown, defensive lineman Christian Hines, linebacker Josh Lyons, defensive back De’Shawn Wylie, athlete Julian Gerena and punt Trey Aiello.

The region player of the year was Jenkins wide receiver/running back Trenton Rhodes. Co-offensive players of the year were Southeast Bulloch running back Colby Smith and Calvary Day quarterback James Mobley IV. Co-defensive players of the year were Jenkins defensive lineman Isaac Smith and Long County linebacker Kenny Pickens. 

All-region athlete of the year was Calvary Day wide receiver Thomas Blackshear and coach of the year was Calvary Day’s Mark Stroud, who retired at season’s end.
