The Liberty County 12 and Under All-Stars won the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 2 Championship last month in Waycross.
The team defeated Wayne County 61-0 and Ware County 32-0 to advance to the District 2 Championship game where they won a hard fought contest with Glynn County 20-16.
With the win, the Midget All-Stars advanced to the GRPA State Tournament in Effingham County and faced District 1 Champ, Effingham County. Effingham proved to be too tough for Liberty, winning 30-7, and went on to win the State Championship.
In other all-star football action, the Liberty County 8 and Under team defeated Wayne County 25-0 and Ware County 26-0 to advance to the District 2 Championship game, but was defeated by Glynn County in OT, 21-20.
The Liberty County 10 and Under team faced a tough Camden County squad in the first round of District play and lost 22-6. Camden went on the win the State Championship.
