Last year, Julian Stokes led the Liberty County Panthers to the second round of the football playoffs as quarterback. This year, Stokes is headed to Georgia State University where he will try out Aug. 24 for the school’s inaugural football team.
Stokes recently shared with the Courier his top five NFL quarterbacks, ranging from his personal favorites to all-time greats.

1. Peyton Manning
“Because of his leadership skills, being able to control the game, and his hard work on and off the field,” Stokes said.

2. Tom Brady

“Because of his legacy and what he has done in making the New England Patriots one of the NFL’s most dominant program.”

3. Donovan McNabb
Stokes said McNabb made his list because of the athlete’s ability to throw and run the ball successfully throughout his career.

4. Philip Rivers
“Because of his consistency in throwing the football,” Stokes said.

5. Ben Roethlisberger
Stokes said Roethlisberger is tough and determined to win. “He has a constant drive about himself that doesn’t stop,” he said.
