Like many military families in and around Hinesville, Army spouse Jessica Ulmer is eagerly counting down the days until her husband, Sgt. Horace Ulmer, returns home from Iraq in about a week.
Sgt. Ulmer is assigned to 1-64 Charlie Company, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. The 2nd Brigade deployed last year in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Ulmers have two children, ages 2 and 5. Jessica Ulmer recently talked about what she’s most looking forward to when her husband returns.
1. “When he steps off the bus the first thing we’ll do is run and jump on him, give him hugs and kisses.”
2. “I want to get him home and feed him.” Ulmer says she’ll cook her husband one of his favorite dishes. What she prepares will depend on “the time he comes in.”
3. Play with the kids in the backyard. “We have a trampoline and a bounce house with a ball pit. We bought the bounce house for my son’s birthday.”
4. “Just hang out with him and watch a movie or football together. He loves Ohio and I love USC (University of Southern California).”
5. “Chill at night with the new fire pit I got him. We’ll put logs in it, sit around and enjoy a cocktail and talk.”
