SAVANNAH — Hinesville City Councilman Keith Jenkins received a certificate of excellence June 28 from the Georgia Municipal Training Institute at the Georgia Municipal Association’s 77th annual convention in Savannah.
The institute, a cooperative effort of GMA and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, provides a nationally recognized series of training opportunities for elected city officials. To receive a certificate of excellence, a city official must complete a minimum of 120 credits. The program consists of a series of 24 six-unit courses.
Jenkins was one of 10 city officials to receive the certificate at the convention.
“This is an outstanding achievement,” GMA Executive Director Jim Higdon said. “We commend council member Jenkins for this accomplishment and for the dedication he’s shown in using this valuable resource to become a more effective city official.”
Based in Atlanta, the GMA is a voluntary, nonprofit organization that provides legislative advocacy, research, training, employee benefit and technical consulting services to its 500 member cities.
