Karen Bell named Phi Theta Kappa officer

Karen Elaine Bell has been elected President of the Beta Xi Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges. Phi Theta Kappa membership is based on academic achievement. Members are provided opportunities for growth and development in scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship.
Bell, of Hinesville, is the daughter of King Edward and Yvonne Gibson of Detroit, Mich., and is married to James Bell. She is majoring in education at Savannah Technical College. Her other activities, honors and awards include serving as the voting delegate at the Phi Theta Kappa international convention.
Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, headquartered in Jackson, Miss., is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.7 million members and 1,100 chapters located in 50 states, territories, Canada and Germany.
