Air Force Airman Russell K. Greene Jr. graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Shelia Woods of Macon and Russell Greene Sr. of Midway.
Greene Jr. graduated in 2010 from Rutland High School in Macon.

Donaghe graduates ROTC course


Christopher L. Donaghe has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps leader development and assessment course, also known as “Operation Warrior Forge,” at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.
The 32 days of training provide professional training and evaluation for cadets in the aspects of military life, administration and logistical support.  Although continued military training and leadership development is included in the curriculum, the primary focus of the course is to develop and evaluate each cadet’s officer potential as a leader.  The cadet command assesses each cadet’s performance and progress in officer traits, qualities and professionalism while attending the course.
Cadets in their junior and senior years of college must complete the leadership development course. Upon completion of the course, the ROTC program and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, National Guard or Reserve.
Donaghe is the son of Denise Michele of Midway.
He is a 2007 graduate of Liberty County High School.

Holmes deploys to Iraq

Air Force Airman 1st Class Ronald G. Holmes has deployed to Iraq to serve in support of Operation New Dawn, the formerly named Operation Iraqi Freedom.  This transition signifies a formal end to U.S. military combat operations in Iraq.
Holmes, a services apprentice with one year of military service, is normally assigned to the 2nd Force Support Squadron, Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, La.   
He is the son of Ronald G. and Sharon B. Holmes of Midway.
The airman graduated in 2009 from Liberty County High School.

Kimmel graduates from OSUT

Army Pfc. Jamie R. Kimmel has graduated from One Station Unit Training at the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning in Columbus. The training consisted of basic military training and advanced individual training.
During basic training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremonies, military customs and courtesies, map reading, tactics, basic rifle marksmanship, physical fitness, field training and first aid skills. The recruit developed combat skills and handled various weapons available to the infantry soldier.
Kimmel is the son of Maureen Kimmel of Midway and the grandson of Lynn Kimmel of Charlotte, Mich.
The soldier is a 2010 graduate of Liberty County High School.

Beasley reports for duty

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class William A. Beasley, son of Evonne M. Beasley of Hinesville, Ga., recently reported for duty at Naval Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla.
Beasley joined the Navy in April 1993.
