Native earns Census award

Melanie Jones, a native of Walthourville who currently works as an administrative coordinator for the Census Bureau in Charlotte, N.C., recently received the bronze medal award, which is the highest recognition awarded by the U.S. Census Bureau, for her leadership of the administrative department during the 2010 Census in the Charlotte region.
Jones, who received her award at the Census Bureau headquarters in Suitland, Md., lives in Indian Trail, N.C., with her husband Ricky and son Richard. She is the daughter of James and Shirley P. Frasier of Walthourville.
