Mr. and Mrs. Ryle W. Tatum recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner hosted by their children and grandchildren, Kyle and Kathy Tatum (Mary King) of Newnan; Reid and Linda Tatum (Hannah and Casey) of Statesboro; and Kent Tatum of Statesboro.
The Tatums were married Dec. 27, 1957 in the home of the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Parker in Ludowici.
The couple met in 1946 while students at Brewton Parker College. The Rev. Thomas George, a former classmate, officiated the ceremony.
Ryle retired as special services director for the Army. Mary Ida Parker Tatum retired from the Liberty County Board of Education.
They made their home in Hinesville for more than 40 years before moving to Statesboro five years ago.
