'Clue: The Musical' at Thunder Run

Tickets are on sale for “Clue: the Musical,” based on the Parker Brothers board game. Tickets are $25 per person or $175 for a table of eight. The price includes a family-style dinner.

The show will be presented at Thunder Run in Club on Stewart at 7 p.m. Nov. 2.

The dinner theater performance is sponsored by FMWR, in partnership with the Hinesville Area Arts Council.

Tickets are on sale at Club Stewart, the Leisure Travel office in the PX Furniture Mall and at the main Heritage Bank office on Main Street in Hinesville.

National Chocolate Cupcake Day at Stewart Lanes

Childcare space availability

Childcare service is available on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. 

As of Oct 9, available spaces at Stewart were seven infant, 48 pre-toddler, 29 toddlers, 42 pre-school, 39 before-school pre-K and kindergarten, 28 after-school pre-K and kindergarten. The School Age Center offers before- and after-school for 6-11-year-olds, and has 50 spaces for before and 42 spaces for after school.

On Hunter, space available is 0 infant, 29 pre-toddler, 13 toddler, 42 pre-school, 20 before-school pre-K and kindergarten, 15 after-school pre-K and kindergarten, 48 before-school school age and 52 after-school school age.

College probe at Bradwell

The Fort Stewart/Liberty County Schools 2011 College Probe will be from 8:30-11:15 a.m. Oct. 19 held at Bradwell Institute.

More than 60 college and technical school representatives from the Southeast will provide information. Financial aid experts will have discuss tuition assistance and the Georgia HOPE Scholarship.

College Probe is open to all high school students, soldiers, family and area residents.

Crossfit golf

Do you want to find out your physical limits? Try Crossfit golf, starting at 1 p.m. Oct. 19 at Hunter Golf Club.

In the nine-hole competition the two-person teams will golf the holes and do crossfit activities in designated areas. The golf goal will be the greens not the holes. Players may use one club.

The winner will be determined by adding the golf score and the time from start to finish. Lowest count wins.

Register by Oct. 17. The cost is just $20 per team. For more information, call 315-9115.

 

Big buck contest

Register now to win cash for the largest buck harvested on Fort Stewart or Hunter. Registration continues until Oct. 19.

Fees are $30 for active duty, retiree and family members, and $40 for civilians.  

Deer harvested must be turned in to the Fish and Wildlife Branch for scoring. Only two bucks can be entered, with the higher-scored buck counting. The contest runs through Dec. 3. Winners will be announced at the Wildlife Gala on Jan. 26.

Post-wide yard sale

Registration is under way for the Great DFMWR Post-Wide Housing Area Yard Sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 20 at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.

There is no charge for on-post residents, but registration is necessary to map sale locations for shoppers. Maps of housing area sales will be available on the FMWR website and Facebook page.

Residents interested in selling should call the Fort Stewart Sports Office at 767-8238 or the Tominac Fitness Center, 315-5078, for Hunter.

 

Beat the golf pros

The pros are still undefeated and waiting challengers at Hunter Golf Club. Register by Oct. 19 to see if you can beat them.

The pros challenge a 4-person team in a scramble or captain’s choice format to play at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 20. There is a $20 entry fee, plus greens and cart fees.

The fee is the purse and teams that beat the pros divide it. For more information, call 315-9115.

 

Wildlife photo contest

Registration is open until Nov. 9 for the 2012 Wildlife Photo Contest for amateur photographers.

Photograph entries must be turned in to Pass and Permit Office on Stewart or Hunter by Nov. 9. Entry fees are $5 per photo for youth (ages 4-15) and $10 per photo for adults (16 and older).

Unit level basketball

Registration is under way for the 2012 Hunter Basketball Season unit level games. Play will begin Nov. 6 at Tominac Fitness Center. Unit rosters are due at the Sports Office no later than Oct. 19. There is no charge. Games are played Monday-Friday at 6 p.m.
