The Hinesville Downtown Farmers Market will be closed Thursday in honor of Independence Day. Regular hours — 4-7 p.m. — will resume July 11 for Second Thursday Night in the Park.
The July 11 event will feature the Back Porch Band from Richmond Hill. The group specializes in old-world tunes and blue grass.
The market opens at 4 p.m. and will feature produce, agricultural, crafts and other hand-made treats. The concert begins at 5:30 p.m. in Bradwell Park near the fountain.
Smokin’ Good BBQ and other downtown eateries will sell dinners, snacks and desserts.
“We are going to miss all of our shoppers as we celebrate this national holiday. However, we are very excited as we kick off summer and celebrate July with a great blue-grass band. We encourage everyone who hasn’t visited the market to come on July 11 and experience what our market has to offer,” HDDA program assistant Katrina Barrow said.
The Hinesville Downtown Farmers Market, in its fourth year, was created to provide the community with the opportunity to buy fresh, homegrown produce and agricultural products from local area growers. The market runs from May through Nov. 21, rain or shine unless weather conditions are severe.
