Thanksgiving activities lining up
Weekly FMWR briefing for Nov. 12-18

Everyone’s invited to run in the Family Turkey Trot Fun Run/Walk on Hunter at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Refreshments and a drawing for gift certificates for Thanksgiving turkeys will follow the race. There’s no charge, and runners can register starting at 9:30 a.m. that day. The run/walk will cover distances of 5K or 1.5 miles and will be on Perimeter Road starting at Stephen Douglas Street.

“Disney on Ice”

Register by Nov. 20 for a Leisure Travel trip on Dec. 1 to see "Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy" at the Savannah Civic Center.

Your family's Disney moments with "Cars," "The Little Mermaid," "The Lion King" and Tinker Bell come to life with dazzling skating, special effects and beloved characters.

Company-level basketball

Registration continues until Nov. 21 for the Company-Level Basketball League at Fort Stewart. There is no charge to play.

The league gives soldiers a chance to prove who has the best team in 3rd ID. Companies interested in playing need to submit a letter of intent to play to the Sports Office in the Bennett Sports Complex.

Games will be played at Newman Fitness Center beginning Dec. 3.

Thanksgiving bowling

Marne Lanes will offer specials the day before Thanksgiving and the day after. On Nov. 21, rent a lane for $25 for two hours of unlimited bowling for up to six people per lane. On Nov. 23, kids bowl for $1 per game from 3-8 p.m. and unlimited bowling for $12 per person from 8-midnight.

Thanksgiving hours at Corkan

All Corkan Family Recreation facilities will be closed Nov. 22 for Thanksgiving.

All facilities will operate from 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Nov. 23-25. There will be no Toddler Time, Bowlopolis “8 for 8” bowling league or private parties.

Turkey egg hunt

Not all the turkeys are gobbled up on Thanksgiving and those that escape will leave eggs at Adventure Golf.

Children, ages 0-5, are invited to find the eggs in the annual Turkey Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Nov. 26. There’s no charge.

Winter Wonderland skate

Move to the sounds of Christmas while skating at Corkan Family Fun Center from 6-9 p.m. Dec. 1.

Christmas Ham Bowl

Monday-Sunday, anytime lanes are available starting Dec. 1 and continuing until Dec. 18, bowlers at Hunter Lanes have an opportunity to win a ham. Bowl for $3 per person, per game.

Men, bowl across five lanes and knock down nine pins or more to win. Or, get a strike in the 3, 6, 9 frame.

Brunch with Santa

Old St. Nick himself will be the guest of honor — and the center of attention — during a Brunch with Santa at Club Stewart Ballroom and Thunder Run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 16.

Retirees and civilians are invited.

Stations will serve a full omelette bar and carved bourbon glazed ham. The buffet will feature Southern breakfast items, beef Wellington, English cut cod with Dijon breadcrumbs, and chef’s selections of side dishes. There also will be a complete dessert and coffee bar.

Advance tickets cost $14.95 for adults and $6.45 for children. At the door they cost $17.95 for adults and $7.45 for children. Children 4 and under are free.
