Wheels Day for Month of Military Child
Weekly FMWR briefing for April 15-21

Wheels Day, giving Fort Stewart youngsters a chance to explore and learn about safety vehicles and vehicles their parents drive and maintain, will be from 9 a.m.-noon Friday at the Child Development Center.

Popular with children and parents alike, the free day part of April as Month of the Military Child.

Fire and police vehicles will be on display, as will various Army vehicles and equipment. Face-painting and craft activities will add to the fun.

National Hang Out Day

Friday is Hang Out Day at Corkan Family Fun Center. “Hang out” with the staff from 3-8 p.m. and get discounts on roller skating. The cost is $3 for skating rental/admission. For more information, 912-767-4273.

 

Car and bike show

A BOSS-sponsored competitive car and bike show will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Paul E. Smith Education Center.

The show is open to the public. Admission is $1 per person.

Participant fees are $30 per vehicle and bike. Group rate are also available.

Toddler Earth Day

Toddlers are invited to join Corkan staff April 22 from 10-11:30 a.m. for the annual planting of the Toddler's Earth Day Flower Bed at Cypress Creek. There’s no charge. For more information, call 767-4273.

 

Intramural softball

Register by Thursday for intramural softball, starting next week at Bennett Sports Complex. Games will be played Monday-Thursday at 6, 7 and 8 p.m.

Golf scramble

Register by April 24 for the Garrison Commander’s Golf Scramble, which will start at 1 p.m. April 26 at Taylors Creek Golf Course.

Col. Kevin Gregory invites everyone. Play will be limited to the first 25four-person teams. The cost is $35 per soldier, retiree, Army civilian and Taylors Creek or Hunter Golf Course member; or $45 per civilian guest.

Okefenokee Swamp Trip

Be face-to-face with the inhabitants and scenery of the majestic Okefenokee Swamp on a Leisure Travel trip April 27 to Waycross. It begins at 7:30 a.m. Registration ends April 24.

Enjoy a train ride and demonstration with snakes and alligators. Bring your own lunch. The trip costs $20 per person.

Dinner and bowling

Families are invited to family discount night, with dinner and bowling April 28 from 4-8 p.m. at Stewart Bowling Center.

Jacksonville Zoo

See animals of South America, South Africa, Australia and even Florida at the Jacksonville Zoo park and gardens May 4 with Leisure Travel. Registration ends on April 22.

Zoo attractions include Stingray Bay, Giraffe Overlook, and a 4,000-square-foot splash ground and park.

Blue Man Group in Savannah

A Leisure Travel trip May 13 at 7:30 p.m. takes you to the Savannah Civic Center for a Blue Man Group performance, a celebration of art, technology and music.
