Obamas flying in at Hunter

Army troops at Fort Stewart are getting a visit from their commander-in-chief.

President Barack Obama was making his first trip Friday to the Army post in southeast Georgia. Accompanied by First Lady Michelle Obama, the president was scheduled to meet with soldiers and their families and deliver remarks at an outdoor event.

Air Force One was scheduled to land at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, about 40 miles northeast of Fort Stewart.

This is the first trip of Obama's presidency to Fort Stewart, but it's a frequent stop for Washington policymakers. It's the largest Army post east of the Mississippi River.
