Mr. and Mrs. Michael Carreker of Hinesville are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Michelle Carreker of Atlanta, to Richard Thomas Powell of Atlanta.
The bride-elect’s paternal grandparents are Mrs. Helen Carreker and the late James C. Carreker of Lizella. Her maternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McCauley of Pensacola, Fla.
She is a 1993 graduate of Bradwell Institute. She graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in communication arts with an emphasis in public relations. She currently works as a talent acquisition coordinator with Newell Rubbermaid in Atlanta.
The groom-elect’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. William L. Powell of Marietta. His paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Powell of Memphis, Tenn. His maternal grandparents are Mrs. Robert E. Rich and the late Mr. Robert E. Rich of Memphis.
He is a 1994 graduate of Walton High School in Marietta. He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He is employed as an account executive for Bay Rock Mortgage Corp. in Atlanta.
An intimate wedding is being planned for Sept. 22 at Litchfield Plantation on Pawley’s Island, S.C.
