2005 Long County High School graduate Brittany Mallard recently was recognized for her academic achievements by the office of multicultural affairs at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
According to Dr. Michael Snowden, who is the director of multicultural affairs, Mallard met the criteria for the Multicultural Academic Achievement Scholars award as a result of her performance in the classroom.
According to Snowden, for Mallard to be considered for this honor she had to maintain a 3.00 gpa or better, and carry a 12-hour or higher class schedule, during either the 2009 spring or fall semesters.
Mallard is a senior at AASU and is majoring in speech and communication.  After graduating from AASU, she plans on continuing her education at South Carolina State University.
Mallard is the daughter of Wendell and Dr. Dolores Mallard, who live in Long County.
