As most of the nation watched as a slightly weakened Hurricane Gustav slammed into the Louisiana coast Mondya morning Tropical Storm Hanna was following a course that could have it wash over coastal Georgia by he weekend.

Hanna, the eighth named storm in the Atlantic hurricane season, is strengthening about 100 miles from the Bahamas on Monday.

Long-term projections show the storm could come ashore along the border of Georgia and South Carolina late in the week.

This morning, Hanna was north of the Caicos Islands, drifting slowly westward at 2 mph. Forecasters say the center of Hannah is expected travel over or near the southeastern Bahamas during the next day or two.

Hanna's maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph.
