Foster, adopted children, families draw support
Placeholder Image
Editor, Thanks to those who support foster children. Liberty County foster/adoptive parents take great pride in caring for the children that the state of Georgia has entrusted to their families.
Foster parents would not be able to do what is necessary to ensure the proper care and safety of our children if it was not for the support we receive from this community. Foster parents must adhere to the policy and procedure guidelines set forth by the Department of Family and Children Services.
Here in Liberty County, the foster parents association (Fostering Care & Hope, Inc.) is a 501(c) 3 non profit organization that provides support and training for foster and adoptive parents. With our food and clothing resource center the association helps to serve low-income families in our community. This resource has been a tremendous success because of help from the community.
Therefore, we must express our sincere gratitude to those who help us when we call on them. We say thank you to Mr. Chamberlin and the entire DFACS staff and their board members. Mrs. Adams, the appreciation picnic was terrific! Pastor M.L. Jackson and the entire Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Live Oak Church, Full Gospel Tabernacle, St. Phillips Episcopal Church, Pastor Crutchfield and Life United Pentecostal Church (“You Belong Here”), Lisa Dowd, owner of Little Treasure Learning Center, Butterfly and Perfect 10 Motorcycle Club, Classy Ladies Social Club, Mustang Riding Club, Mary Hall and Liberty Christian Fellowship, Irene McCall and CASA, Liston Singletary and Liberty County Branch NAACP, Second Harvest Food Bank of Savannah. Leah Poole and United Way (Leah, you helped to make a difference!), New Vision Baptist Church of Claxton. To these individuals who volunteered their time at the resource center; Linda Lane, women with United Pentecostal Church, Deidra Harper, Elder and Mrs. Bernard Harper, Evangelist Beverly Washington, Gerald E. Smith (CPR training and support is greatly appreciated), Sandra Lovett, Hinesville Fire Department, Wendy Bruce, Liberty Stares and Stripes Quilting Guild, Andrew Borque and family, J.C. Vision and Associates, and Melinda Graham and Lt. Tomlinson -Ft. Stewart, Ga.
I know I’ve probably not listed everyone and if I didn’t it is not intentional. To everyone who supports foster/adoptive children and their families, we say thank you.
