Editor, The citizens of Liberty County suffered a great loss last week, when their sheriff and my friend Don Martin passed away. For the past 17-plus years, it has been my privilege to work with and come to know Don Martin.
As sheriff, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a husband and a friend, Don set a terrific example for us to follow. His love of Liberty County, its people and his passion for preserving law and order will be difficult to match. It is with a heavy heart that I extend my sincerest condolences to his family, friends and department.
