Put up 9-1-1 address signs
Placeholder Image
Editor, Last night while listening to my radio, I noticed several responders having a hard time locating addresses while responding to a call. This morning, en route to Hinesville, I attempted to see just how many residences on EB Cooper Highway (SR 119) actually had the 911 emergency reflective address signs as required by local ordinances.
From the time I passed Barrington Ferry Road in Riceboro until I passed the Walthourville PD, I notice just eight of these life-saving emergency reflective address signs, less than one per mile.
Well all, the time has come to assist your law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS and other emergency responders. While attending the Liberty County Public Safety Day this Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. around the courthouse in downtown Hinesville, why not find a department that has these signs for sale and pick one up? I am certain they would have them for a reasonable donation.
