Editor, On May 15, numerous individuals, clubs and organizations (motorcycle clubs, social clubs, car club, bike clubs, dance clubs, riding clubs, independent motorcycle riders and members of the surrounding communities) from Georgia, South Carolina, Florida united to reach out for the rebuilding of Haiti by participating in the Coastal Clubs Roundup for Haiti.
This is one time when everybody put their differences aside and united for a great cause. The charity event had more than 200 people attend; 170 were bikers from around the coastal area. It was an exciting event.
This was one of the largest gatherings for this charity in the Liberty County area. We would like to say a special thank you to the Walthourville mayor, police department, the Allenhurst City Council, the mayor of Hinesville and his pro tem, the Hinesville Police Department, the Mayor and pro tem from Brunswick and the members of the Darien Council for the Senior Citizens Center for all the support to help us to make it happen.
The Walthourville, Allenhurst and Hinesville police departments really came through to keep the 170 bikes and 10 cars moving through the traffic on Highway 84 from Walthourville through Hinesville into Midway to Highway 17 to Eulonia.
The proceeds from the event will go toward food, clothes and rebuilding Haiti.
Participants enjoyed food, music played by a DJ and games for children. Cowboys Joseph Kelly and Ernest Martin provided fun by bringing their horses.
