CYS registration now open
Registration for CYS spring soccer will continue until March 13, or when all slots are filled. Registration is open to all CYS members, ages 4-13, living on or off post. Register at Fort Stewart CYS, building 443, on Gulick Avenue, adjacent to Corkan Pool. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 9 a.m.-6
p.m. on Wednesdays.

Registration for Fort Stewart youth track is open to all CYS members who will be between the ages of 7-14 by Dec. 31.
Six-year-olds may participate provided they turn 7 before next Jan 1. Age groups are 7-8, 10 and under, 12 and under, and 14 and under for both boys and girls.

St. James C.C. Rebels
The 2009 AAU St. James Coastal Crew Rebels season is about to start and the squads will have tryouts for each squad.

Long Co. to host Aquafina, MLB: Pitch, Hit and Run Competition
Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run is a baseball skills competition that provides boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities.
PHR is intended to encourage youth participation and emphasize the fun element of baseball. All participants must begin by competing in a local competition, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Long County Recreation Department on March 28.
Participants can advance through four levels of competition, including local and sectional team championship events at all 30 Major League ballparks, and the national finals at the MLB All-Star Game.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificates and fill out a registration / waiver form before the event. For more information call Deona Carter at (912) 977-4364.

Aerobicthon is March 7
There will be an aerobicthon from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday March 7 at the Liberty County YMCA. The event will include circuit, step, Zumba, pilates, yoga, toning and more.

USSF referee certification course being offered
Hinesville Soccer will host a USSF referee entry level certification course Feb. 28 and March 1, 21-22, at First Presbyterian Christian Academy in Hinesville. A recertification course for active referees is also being offered Feb. 28 and March 21.

Lady Panthers lose last two games
The Lady Panther soccer team lost the last two games of the Richmond Hill Classic, losing 0-2 to Savannah Arts Academy on Tuesday and 2-3 to Jenkins High on Saturday. Lady Panther Elyssa Lemapu scored the two goals Saturday.
Lady Panther coach Jarvis McArthur said he is looking to bounce back into the win column as the squad opens region action Friday at Washington County.
YMCA soccer signups
Registration is under way for soccer for differently-abled children. Games will be from 4-5 p.m. Feb. 19 and 26, and March 5. The program costs $10 for members $20 non-members and includes T-shirts for children and parents. Scholarships are available. Panthers win scrimmage
The Liberty County Panthers scrimmaged Long County on Monday and took a 17-7 victory at the Tide’s home field.
The Panthers travel to Houston County on Saturday for a JV and varsity double header. The JV squad takes the field at 1 p.m. and the varsity game will follow.

YMCA sports for children
Liberty County/Armed services Family YMCA has sports and activities for differently-abled kids (kindergarten through 12th grade).
The program runs most Thursdays from 4-5 p.m. and costs $10 for members and $20 others. The fee includes T-shirts for parent and child.
The focus is:
• March, baseball. Registration runs through March 12.
• April, swimming. Registration is March 8-April 9.
• May, art. Registration is April 8-May 7.
• June, gymnastic movement. Registration is May 15-June 4.

Skidaway Island State Park to host carnival
Spend the first weekend of spring outside and see the amazing "Georgia Bubbleman" at Skidaway Island State Park’s carnival from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, March 21. Attendees also will enjoy carnival games and prizes, face painting, hayrides and pony rides, scavenger hunts, music, food, crafts to take home, reptile shows and more. Scottish Heritage Day Encampment
Fort King George Historic Site in Darien will have a Scottish Heritage Day Encampment at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21.
