softball camp

Georgia Southern softball coach Natalie Poole has announced the 2008 Winter Softball Camp is set for Jan. 26 at Eagle Field. The camp is open to girls, 7 years to high school seniors, and will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost of the clinic is $95 by mail or $100 if registered online through the Georgia Southern athletics Web site. YMCA family events

Registration is under way for the YMCA four-on-four basketball tournament scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16-17. The registration deadline is Tuesday. Age divisions are 16-29 and over 30. The tournament is free of charge. For more information, call 368-5287.

Biggest Loser Fit Challenge
The challenge begins on Jan 28 and ends March 20. Three teams of six will face off to see who will be named the biggest loser. Cost is $100 for members and $120 non-members for two workouts and one challenge from personal trainers. Three time slots are available — 5:30 a.m. 9:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 6:45 p.m. for the Thursday night challenge. Contestants must be available for all workout sessions. Bench Press competition
Registration is being taken for the Bench Press Competition scheduled at 3 p.m. Jan. 26. Competitors must be at the gym by 1 p.m. for weigh-in Jan. 26. Open men and women, ages 16 and up. Masters includes men and women, age 50 and over. Cost is $25 per participant. Registration is open until Jan. 19. Call 368-5287.

Dance classes

Creative movement, for ages 2-1/2 to 4 years, is every Wednesday from 4:05 to 4:35 p.m. This class teaches body movement and creativity. Intro to dance, for ages 5-9 years, is offered every Wednesday from 4:45-5:30 p.m. This class teaches technique, terminology and covers jazz, hip-hop, ballet and many others.
