scrimmage tickets on sale Aug. 9

The BI Tigers and the Liberty Panthers will have their football scrimmage at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Donell Woods Stadium. Tickets go on sale Aug. 9, and are available at both schools and the board of education office. Tickets are $7 and are available through advance purchase only. No tickets will be sold at the gate. The schools’ junior varsity squads likely will scrimmage, too.

A scrimmage is not an official game and the final outcome will not affect the teams’ win and loss records. For more information, call 876-2161, 368-6123 or 876-4316.

YMCA flag football

YMCA youth flag football registration is under way for children ages 3-14. The season begins Aug. 14, and volunteer coaches are needed. For more information, call Richard Somerville at 368-9622.

BI needs fall ball players

Incoming eighth- through 12th-grade Bradwell Institute students who are interested in playing fall baseball should attend a team meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the school’s baseball field. Attendees will discuss the upcoming season and participate in a workout session. All games are Saturday double headers.
