Jiu-jitsu classes under way

 

 

Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes started last month. Registration is monthly for classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the YMCA. The youth class for ages 4-15 meets from 5-6 p.m. and costs $50 per month, per person. Tuition is $60 for non-members. The adult class meets from 6-7 p.m. and costs $80 per month for members and $90 for others.

Hall of Fame tickets on sale

 

The Liberty County Sports Hall of Fame banquet will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Club Stewart on Fort Stewart. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance from Gerald

Basketball shooting clinics

 

South Georgia Kings founder Jessie Fleming will offer clinics for shooting, ball handling, specialized shots and conditioning. Fleming helped coach Liberty County High School standouts Rion Brown (nationally ranked 51st), Jordan McRae (ranked 42nd) and Jaquez Motley (ranked 136th). The fee is $25 per session. YMCA adult flag football

 

There will be a YMCA adult flag football tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. The entry fee is $100 per team and registration is open until Dec. 10. Teams should consist of businesses or organizations. For information, call Richard Somerville at 368-9622.

 

BI booster club
selling Boston butts

 

 

The Harvey Overton Bradwell Booster Club’s Boston butt sale starts Dec. 11 at Bradwell’s baseball field. Butts cost $20 each. For information, call Jeff Miller at 368-6123. All proceeds go to the BI weight room.

 

Organizers of Tybee run open T-shirt design contest

 

The 2010 Critz Tybee Run Half Marathon and 5K organizers, Dale Critz Jr., Robert Espinoza and the city of Tybee Island, have opened a T-shirt design contest to the public. One winning design will be chosen to become the official art for the 2010 Critz Tybee Run T-shirt. The winning designer will win $500.

Anyone can submit a design, although artists must follow guidelines:

• Art must be created in four-color (CMYK)

• Submissions must include the Critz Tybee logo

• Designs must display the date of the run (Saturday, Feb. 6)

• Art must be 11 inches wide by 14 inches tall

• Designs must incorporate the fun and unique atmosphere of Tybee Island

A panel of judges will choose the final T-shirt design based on the above criteria, in addition to overall creativity.

Georgia Kings workouts

 

Workout sessions for seventh- and eighth-graders
