Perfect game at Marne Lanes

Emil "Cookie" Kueling III bowled a perfect 300 and scored 758 in a series of games on July 21 at Marne Lanes.

Kueling is the pro shop manager at the bowling alley.

Bradwell softball tryouts Aug. 3

 

Open tryouts for the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers softball team will be Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Bradwell Lady Tigers softball field. Girls in the grades 8-12 are eligible. A sports physical is required. For more information, call Coach Sharyl Eastlake at 369-8384 or 977-2016 or 977-2015.

The Department of the Army Child Youth and School Services is having tackle football, cheerleading and fall soccer registration through Aug. 10, or until all slots are filled. Register at the Fort Stewart CYSS, building 443, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, or 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday.

Football is open to ages 7-13. Fee is $60. Cheerleading is open to ages 6-13. Fee is $30. Soccer is open to ages 4-13. Fee is $30.

The fee is waived if one or more parents are deployed. The fee is waived for the first child and there is a 10 percent discount for each additional child of volunteer coaches.

All participants must have a current physical on file. For more information, call 767-4371.

Lady Panther tryouts

The Liberty County Lady Panthers softball team will have tryouts at 6 p.m. Aug. 3, at the school’s softball field. School ph ysical forms must be completed to be eligible. For more information, call coach Jerome Standard at 312-0331.

Football, Cheerleading

Registration will be conducted August 1-21 for Youth Football and Cheerleading at the Liberty County Recreation Department. Football is for 7-14 year olds and Cheerleading is for ages 7-12. Age is determined as of September 1, 2009. Football age divisions are: flag football for 7-8 year olds and tackle football for 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14 year olds. Weight restrictions apply to the 9-10 and 11-12 year old divisions. Cost is $15 per child for flag football and $10 per child for all other divisions. All equipment is provided except pants for tackle football players. Teams will be formed in Midway, Walthourville, Riceboro, and Gum Branch, if there are enough participants. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. The deadline to register for this program is August 21. Madden
NFL 2009 Challenge

The Liberty County YMCA is hosting Madden NFL 2009-10 Xbox 360 online tournaments. The first tournament is scheduled for Aug. 1. Registration is $15 and you can register at the YMCA.

Shrine Club tournament

It’s time for the 24th annual Hinesville/ Fort Stewart Shrine Club Golf Tournament. Registrations are being accepted for the 18-hole four person scramble at 8 a.m., Sept. 12, at the Cherokee Rose Country Club. The fee is $50 per person and includes cart, green fees and food. Open to men and women with prizes awarded on every hole, closest to the pin, longest putt, longest drive and the bullseye shot. Registration closes Sept. 9. Send players’ names and handicaps to:

Baseball fall league

The Chain Baseball Academy is accepting registrations for a fall baseball program. The fall league will consist of 18U (grades 9-12) teams that will play double headers on Saturdays. Chain will also have a fall showcase team that will play at different colleges. Deadline for registration is Aug. 28. An instructional league will be also offered for players ages 9-14.
