Brazilian Jiu Jitsu camp

The YMCA is offering a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Camp from July 18-22 for ages 8 -16. Ages 8-12 will be from noon until 1 p.m. and ages 13-16 will be from 1:15 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. For more information call 368-9622.

LCRD cheer camp in July

The Liberty County Recreation Department will conduct a cheer camp from 5:30-8 p.m. July 11-14 at Stafford Pavilion. The camp is open to children ages 7 and older, and the cost is $30 per camper. Registration is from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays at the LCRD office. For more information, call 876-5359.

BI softball workouts

The BI softball team will conduct summer conditioning every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. and every Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. at Lady Tigers Field. For more information, call coach Sharyl Eastlake at 977-2016, coach Misty Eastlake at 977-2017 or coach Jeff Eastlake at 977-2015.

First annual Warrior Classic

St. James summer camp

The St. James summer day camp is open to children ages 5-14 from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. The camp is closed on all holidays. The fee is $50 per week. Activities include swimming, bowling, basketball, soccer, kickball and weekly field trips. For more information, call 980-4559 or 884-3016.

Liberty County YMCA football

The Liberty County YMCA currently is accepting registrations for the following program:
• Flag football registration begins July 1 for ages 3-13. The season starts Aug. 13.

Lady Hawks seek players

The Hinesville Lady Hawks girls’ AAU basketball team is seeking players ages 9-14. The organization is geared to players of all levels, and no child will be turned away.
The team also is seeking volunteer coaches and sponsors for its upcoming season.
The initial cost to join the team is $105, which covers the cost of the uniform and registration into the AAU basketball league. For more information, call coach Harvey Harris at 321-9150 or 570-1176.

Fundamental basketball

Cat Walk of Fame

Bradwell Institute is building a “Cat Walk of Fame” featuring former BI athletes who played sports at the college level. Tigers coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes and are gathering names and photos, but they’d like more.
To be eligible for the Cat Walk of Fame, former athletes must have graduated from Bradwell Institute, played sports at the college level and graduated from college. To submit names or photos, email them to jmiller@liberty.k12.ga.us or mail them, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope for return, to:

LCRD Aquatics programs

Open swim
The Liberty County Recreation Department swimming pool is in Liberty Independent Troop Park on Highway 84 in Hinesville. It is open daily from
2-6 p.m. Daily admission is $2 per person.

Pool family nights
Monday and Wednesday evenings are family nights.  Hours are 7:15-9 p.m. and admission is $2 per person.  It is open to parents and children only.

Swimming lessons
Swimming lessons for children ages 4 and older will be offered at the LCRD pool in two-week sessions (Monday-Thursday) at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. July 11-21.  
Each class is 50 minutes per day. The cost is $25 per participant for the two-week session. A limited number of slots are available. 
There will be a sessions for infants and toddlers at 10 a.m. Saturdays from July 9-30. The cost is $25.

Pool rentals
The pool may be reserved for exclusive use by individuals or groups.  The fee is $50 per hour for 25 people or less, $75 per hour for 25-50 people, $100 per hour for 50-75 people and $125 per hour for 75-100 people. 
Reservations must be made through the LCRD office.
