YMCA plans
summer camps

 

The YMCA has several summer sports camps planned. Here is the schedule:

• Football camp: June 7-11, 10-11 a.m. for ages 5-7, and 11 a.m.-noon for ages 8-14.

• Soccer camp: June 14-18, 10-11 a.m. for ages 5-7, and 11 a.m.-noon for ages 8-14.

• Basketball camp: June 21-25, 9-11 a.m. for ages 5-7, and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for ages 8-14.

2010 River Street Summer Classic

 

Registration is being accepted for the 2010 River Street Summer Classic Tournament on June 18-20 in Jacksonville, Fla. The fee is $325 per team and is open to all age groups.

Entry deadline is June 11. All players must show their current AAU membership card, have light- and dark-colored team uniforms and show their birth certificates at the tournament. For more information, call Chris Stacy at 884-2152 or 695-0481.

 

St. James summer camp registration

 

Registration for the St. James summer camp is ongoing at St. James. Participants can register in person or via e-mail at st_jamescenter@hotmail.com.

The camp is open to children ages 5-13 and will start May 25. Camp hours are from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, but will be closed on holidays. The fee is $50 per week.

Campers will participate in bowling, basketball, soccer, skating, field trips, social activities and more. For more information, call 884-3016 or 980-4559.

LCHS football skills camp

 

Liberty County High School will be hosting a football skills camp for quarterbacks, runningbacks and receivers from 9 a.m. until noon June 7-11. The camp is open to ages 8-15. The fee is $60. The camp will take place at Liberty County High School. Registration forms are available at the school’s front office. For more information call 876-4316.

 

Plans for first annual Sunbury 5K run/walk in works

 

The first annual Sunbury 5K run/walk is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Diabetes Association.

Participants can register online at www.fleetfeetsavannah.com or www.active.com. Search for the race under the keyword "Sunbury." Registration fees are $25 per person, and the race is open to all ages; however, those under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian, according to the Active.com site.

The race starts at the Sunbury Crab Company and the course will take participants through the neighborhoods of Sunbury. Prizes will be awarded in different age groups and all registered participants will receive T-shirts and free entry into the Sunbury Blue Crab Festival.

BI wall of fame submissions

 

Bradwell Institute is building a wall of fame featuring former BI Tiger athletes who played sports on the college level. Tiger coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes, but they’d like even more. Names and photos are being gathered. To submit a name or photo the following criteria must be met:

The former athlete must have graduated from Bradwell Institute. The student athlete must have gone on to play sports at the college level and must have graduated from college.

Fort Stewart annual bowling meeting is May 23

 

The Fort Stewart USBC Bowling Association annual open meeting is at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 23 in the Patriot Room at Club Stewart. Tournament awards will be presented and board member elections will take place. All bowlers are requested to attend.
