Tee off with Pembroke

Lions Club

The Pembroke Lions Club will host a golf tournament at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at Black Creek Golf Club to benefit the sight impaired locally and the Georgia Camp for the Blind and the Georgia Lions Lighthouse foundation. The fundraiser is a four-person scramble. Entry fee is $100 per player or $400 per team. Hole sponsorships cost $100. The deadline to register is Friday, Nov. 19. Check-in the day of the tournament begins at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and play begins at 12:30 p.m. Lunch is included in the tournament fee. All-Stars taking applications


Scott’s All-Stars are taking applications for the 2011 season. There are fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boys teams. Practice is at 3 p.m. every second weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at the YMCA. Savannah River Bridge Run registration


Registration is open for the Dec. 4 Enmark Savannah River Bridge Run. Participants can register online at, in person at Savannah’s Fleet Feet Sports or by downloading a registration form and mailing it in. The entry fee is $28 for anyone who registers before Oct. 31. The fee is $30 for participants who register through Dec. 2. The fee includes a T-shirt and refreshments. Participants cannot register on the day of the race.

The run gives participants the chance to conquer Savannah’s Talmadge Bridge, a 1.4-mile span at a 5.5 percent grade, 196 feet above the Savannah River. The event includes a 5K run/walk, a 10K run, a double-pump race, a team challenge, a double-pump team challenge and a quarter-mile kids run.

Community church bowling league
