Class of Champion tourney Nov. 21

The schedule is set for the Rebels Class of Champions Tournament on Saturday. The tournament is double elimination. Trophies will be awarded for first and second place. Admission is $2. Games will be at St. James Sports Center.

• 10 a.m.: Brunswick vs. Youth Challenge Academy

• 11 a.m.: Statesboro vs. Walthourville

• Noon: Fort Stewart vs. winner of game one

• 1 p.m.: Savannah vs. winner of game two

Panther fans can reserve bus seats

 

Fans can reserve seats now on a charter bus to Liberty County High School Panther football team’s playoff game Friday. It will leave from the high school to travel to Jackson for the game.

After the team’s victory in round one last week, a bus was immediately reserved and 42 seats have already been reserved. If needed, another bus will be chartered, but all seats must be paid for no later than today. For more information, call Evette Mothershed at 332-2409 or Patricia Stokes at 980-6307.

Liberty County Sports Hall of Fame tickets

The Liberty County Sports Hall of Fame banquet will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Club Stewart on Fort Stewart. Tickets must be purchased in advance from Gerald DeLoach. Call him at 876-2878 or e-mail deloachg@centurytel.com. Tickets are $15.

 

Jiu-jitsu classes under way

 

 

Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes started Nov. 2. Registration is monthly for classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the YMCA. The youth class for ages 4-15 meets from 5-6 p.m. and costs $50 per month, per person. Tuition is $60 for non-members. The adult class meets from 6-7 p.m. and costs $80 per month for members and $90 for others.

BI booster club selling
Boston butts

 

The Harvey Overton Bradwell Booster Club’s Boston butt sale starts Dec. 11 at Bradwell’s baseball field. Butts cost $20 each. For more information, call Jeff Miller at 368-6123. All proceeds go to improving and maintaining the BI weight room.

 

Georgia Kings workouts

Savannah River Bridge run
scheduled for Dec. 5

 

The Savannah River Bridge Run is set for Dec. 5.

Participants can register online at www.active.com. The entry fee is $30 for anyone who registers between Nov. 1-Dec. 3.

Runners can pick up their registration packets Friday, Dec. 4, inside the Savannah Civic Center. Participants can register during packet pick-up for $35. The entry fee includes a T-shirt and refreshments. Participants cannot register on the day of the race.

The course spans Savannah’s Talmadge Bridge, which is 1.4-miles long and has a 5.5 percent incline. It is 196 feet above the Savannah River.
