15U Rebels to host game Saturday

 

The 15U St. James Coastal Crew Rebels will host the South Carolina All-Stars tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the St. James Sports Center in Holmestown. Everyone is invited to watch the game, admission is free and open to the public. For more information call 980-4559.

 

Scott’s All-Stars Chess Tournament

 

Registration is underway for the first annual Scott’s All-Stars chess tournament. The cost is $20 per player and the tournament will be scheduled for Oct. 30. Tee Time Golfing for Girls

 

Tee Time Golfing for Girls is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville.

Hole sponsorships are $100 or more and includes advertising on the course. Registration for golfers costs $50 per person or $200 for a four-person team.

The event will support the Grow a Girl Network’s building fund for a new location in Parkway Plaza at 445 E.G. Miles Parkway, suite 203, Hinesville.

Grow a Girl Network, a nonprofit, mentors and supports area youth.

Cherokee Rose Golf Course specials

After 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday (excluding holidays): 18 holes with a cart is $19. Nine holes with a cart is $15.

Annual Kings of the South tournament

 

The Kings of the South basketball tournament and health and wellness fair will be at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Shuman Recreation Center in Hinesville. Registration is open until Oct. 2 and the fees are $50 for the 3-on-3 class and $100 for the 5-on-5 class. There will be three youth and three adult divisions. The tournament is open to women. All-Stars taking applications

 

Scott’s All-Stars are taking applications for the 2011 season. There are fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade boys teams. Practice is at 3 p.m. every second weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at the YMCA. Community church bowling league

 

A community church bowling league needs new bowlers. The league meets at 6:45 p.m. each Thursday at Marne Lanes on Fort Stewart. Anyone who attends any church is eligible. Sign-up costs $19-$21 and play costs $8 each Thursday. Call Jeri Vick at 876-4351 or 222-0924.

The Coastal Georgia Soccer Association is accepting team registrations. The fee for 4U-8U players is $70 to register plus a $36.50 uniform fee, which applies to new 6U and 8U players only. The registration fee for 10U and 14U players is $85, plus $36.50 for a youth uniform or $38.50 for adult sizes.

Association officials plan to start a 14U team in Midway for Fort Stewart and Midway area players. Practices will be in Midway and games will be on weekends in Savannah.

SGK Baller-size

 

SGK Baller-size workout sessions will start Oct. 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the YMCA and every Monday and Wednesday from noon-3 p.m. at Faith Baptist Christian Academy.
