Fastpitch softball tryouts are Oct. 18

 

The South Georgia Fury fastpitch softball team is looking for players for the 18U, 16U, 14U, 12U and 10U teams

Tryouts are from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at Southeast Bulloch High School field. Georgia Southern University softball players will be there for instruction.

Kickball tournament slated for Oct. 24

 

Fountain of Youth, in conjunction with End Zone Athletics, will have an inaugural Monster Coed Kickball Tournament on Oct. 24, at Paulson softball complex in Savannah. The tournament is an all-day event. Teams must have 15 players with a minimum of six women per team. Individuals may register to be placed on teams. Participants must be at least 18 years old. The fee is $25 per player. All teams are guaranteed three games.

Corporate teams and sponsors are welcome. Costumes are optional, but welcome. Prizes will be awarded for the top teams, team spirit, the best theme and the best costume. For more information, call 302-7015 or go to www.myspace.com/endzonefootball.

 

Cherokee Rose Club
running specials

 

Cherokee Rose Country Club is running several specials throughout October. The first deal is available Monday-Thursday for $22 plus tax and includes 18 holes with a cart. Nine holes with a cart costs $18 plus tax.

Unlimited play is available Monday-Thursday for $28 plus tax.

The Saturday twilight special is available after 2:30 p.m. Eighteen holes with a cart costs $24 plus tax, and nine holes with a cart costs $20 plus tax.

After-school program

 

The St. James Center is accepting registration for its free after-school program, which includes homework assistance for children enrolled in kindergarten-sixth grade. Savannah River Bridge run scheduled for Dec. 5

 

The Savannah River Bridge Run is set for Dec. 5.

Participants can register online at www.active.com. The entry fee is $28 for anyone who signs up before Oct. 31, and $30 for anyone who registers between Nov. 1-Dec. 3.

Runners can pick up their registration packets Friday, Dec. 4, inside the Savannah Civic Center. Participants can register during packet pick-up for $35. The entry fee includes a T-shirt and refreshments. Participants cannot register on the day of the race.

The course spans Savannah’s Talmadge Bridge, which is 1.4-miles long and has a 5.5 percent incline. It is 196 feet above the Savannah River.

GSU football tickets on sale

 

Single game tickets for the Georgia Southern University football season are on sale. The Eagles play five regular season games at Paulson Stadium.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased by calling the GSU ticket office at 800-GSU-WINS or online at www.GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com. Youth tickets for each home game are also on sale for $10 each (ages 3-12). In addition to single-game tickets, season ticket packages also are available.
