Twilight Special
at golf course

The Cherokee Rose Golf Course offers a twilight special. Every Monday-Thursday after 3 p.m., you can play 18 holes for $20, plus tax. The fee includes a cart. For information, call 876-5503.

YMCA Dance classes

• Baby Ballet: Wednesdays, 4:45-5:15 p.m.

Bobcat Classic

YMCA Biggest Loser Challenge

The program runs from Oct. 20 – Dec. 11 and registrations are under way until Oct. 13. The workout will be on Monday and Wednesday followed by a challenge each Thursday. Time slots available are 5:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m., and 6:30 p.m. Every participant must be available for the Thursday night challenge at 6.  The price is $100 YMCA members, $120 non-members. Correction

A story in Sunday’s Courier about mother and son runners Monica and Andrew Lopez reported the wrong times for their races. Monica Lopez ran the 10k in 50:00 minutes flat and Andrew ran the 5k in 18:15. The Courier regrets the error.

Micro-basketball
sign-ups Oct. 15

Early registration for Liberty County YMCA micro-basketball leagues for ages 4-14 is Oct. 15-Nov. 21. All players must be registered by Nov. 30 and practices begin Dec. 13. Games begin Jan. 24. Practices will be scheduled during the week. Some practices may be scheduled on weekends depending on the coach, and games will be played on weekends and/or weekday evenings. 6 and under is $40 for members, $50 for non-member. All other divisions are $50 for members and $60 for non-members. Registration after November 21st will include an additional $10 fee. League eligibility is determined by your child's age as of Jan. Ballroom dancing

Jamie Cooke, who is certified with 16 years experience instructing couples and singles in ballroom, swing, Latin and country western dance, will teach ballroom dancing at the YMCA. Cost is $90 for members, $135 for non-members. For more information, call Richard Somerville 912-368-5287.

Kiss-A-Pig 2009
campaign under way

The theme for the 2009 Kiss-A-Pig is “The Olympigs” and Liberty County wants to bring back a gold medal like they did last year.
Hinesville candidate Jason Rogers from the Liberty County School Board wants to remind everyone that November is American Diabetes month. Rogers and team Liberty are hosting the first campaign event, a bowling tournament, from noon-3 p.m. Nov. 9, at Marne Lanes. Lane sponsors are $115. Four-person teams are $35 per person and proceeds benefit the Liberty County Kiss-a-Pig Campaign. Liberty County won in 2008, help us kiss that pig again.
