CYS basketball, cheerleading



Registration for Fort Stewart youth basketball and cheerleading runs through Dec. 31, or until all slots are filled. Registration is open to all CYS members living on or off post, ages 5-18 for basketball and 6-13 for cheerleading.

Register at Fort Stewart CYS, building 443 on Gulick Avenue. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Volunteers are also needed to coach teams. If interested, go to the CYS building or call 767-2312 to put your name on a coaching list. All volunteers will be required to fill out a registration form and submit to a background check.


Rebels class of champion tourney


A limited number of slots are available for the upcoming Rebels class of champion basketball tournament at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 at St. James Sports Center. It is open to boys ages 15-18 and all teams must have coaches and team uniforms.

There is no fee, but space is limited. The tournament is double elimination. Trophies will be awarded for first and second place. Admission to watch the games is $2.

Georgia Kings workouts

Softball tryouts are Nov. 1


The South Georgia Fury fastpitch softball organization will have tryouts from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at Southeast Bulloch High School field. The organization is looking for players for the 18U, 16U, 14U, 12U and 10U teams. There is a $10 fee to try out. Georgia Southern University softball players will be there to instruct. Spaghetti dinner fundraiser benefits soccer association


The Hinesville Gators of the Hinesville Soccer Association is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Poole’s Deli. The cost is $7 per person and includes spaghetti, salad, a roll and a drink. Patrons may eat at Poole’s or get their meals to go. Tickets are available from Hinesville Gators players or at Poole’s on Nov. 12.
