Fire department to golf for MDA

The Hinesville Fire Department will host the third annual MDA Golf Tournament at 1 p.m. Sept. 24, at Cherokee Rose Golf Club in Hinesville. The fee is $50 per golfer or $200 per four-man team. Basketball camp/showcase

The Southeast Georgia Report Top 50 camp/showcase is scheduled for Sept. 17-18 at the Richmond Hill recreation Center, 508 Timber Trail Road. Registration is under way and also will be available at 8 a.m. on a first-come, first-play basis the morning of the camp. Golf tourney to aid Brandon Hellgren

A golf tournament to raise funds for Brandon Hellgren, a 7-year-old who has leukemia, will be Oct. 8 at Cherokee Rose Country Club. The John E. Smiley Jr. “Jay Bird” Memorial Golf Tournament has established Team Brandon to help support Hellgren, the son of Bradwell Institute baseball coach Rhett Hellgren.
