Bradwell softball
tryouts
Open tryouts for the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers Softball team will be Friday, Aug. 1 from 5:30-7 p.m. and Saturday, Aug.t 2 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Bradwell Lady Tiger's softball field.  Girls in grades 8-12 are welcome. 4th annual Henry "Hank" White Memorial Golf Tournament
Registrations are being accepted for the fourth annual Henry "Hank" White Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday Aug. 9, at Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville.
Proceeds benefit eligible, college-bound seniors and adults from the community by providing scholarships for qualified candidates. Last year's contributions from sponsors and donors made five $1,000 scholarships possible. They went to Justin Leachman, Bradley Price, Latasha Williams, Sam Wilson and Rebecca Woods. Since 2005 $17,000 in scholarships have been awarded.
The tournament will have a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $50 per person or $200 per team. Registration deadline is Aug. 2.

CYS youth football and cheerleading

Registration for CYS youth football and cheerleading is underway through Aug. 18, or when slots are full. Football is open to CYS members age 7-12 (age as of Aug. 1). Members age 13 will be placed on a waiting list if there are enough players to form an 11-13 league.
Cheerleading is open to

as of Dec. 31). Sports fees are waived for CYS members of
parents currently deployed.

Volunteers are needed to coach football teams and cheerleading squads.  Anyone interested in coaching should call 767-4371/9270 for football and 767-2815 for cheerleading.  New volunteers must visit Jordan Youth Gym (bldg. 608 on W. 6th St.) to fill out a volunteer form and submit to a background check.

YMCA soccer and flag football

Soccer and flag football registration is under way and continues until Aug. 15. Practice for both sports begins the week of Sept. 6. Both sports are for ages 3-16 and eligibility is determined by your child’s age as of Aug. 1. For more information, call Richard Somerville at 912-368-5287.

Lady Panthers open tryouts

The Lady Panthers softball team will host open tryouts starting Friday, Aug. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Lady Panthers softball field at LCHS. Potential players must bring a completed physical form with them.

Bradwell Football
discount cards

The Bradwell Tigers are selling community discount cards for $10 each. The cards are redeemable at many local restaurants and stores including Applebee's, Chili's, Goodys, Pro-Feet and more. For more information, call 368-6123.  If no one answers leave a message and someone from the athletics department will return your call. The cards are available through Aug. 9.

Liberty County Thunder 12U traveling baseball team is having tryouts on Aug. 2 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for it's upcoming season. All players in that age group are invited. For more information, call coach Pat Sammons at 572-8236 or coach Jason Thompkins at 294-5161.

Aquatic fitness
Aquatic fitness classes are offered each Wednesday and Saturday in the LCRD Pool. Wednesday class is from 7:15-8 p.m. and the Saturday class is from 9:15-10 a.m.  The cost is $2 per class, pay at the pool prior to each class.
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons for ages 4 and up will be offered at the LCRD Pool in two-week sessions (Tuesday-Friday) as follows:  Mornings; July 22-Aug. 1, at 9, 10 or 11 a.m.  The cost is $25 per participant per session. A limited number of slots are available. On-line registration is available at  www.lcrd.net.
Special nights
The LCRD Pool has special nights;  Sunday is Family Night with only parents and children admitted from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday is Senior Swim for ages 50 and older, from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday is Pre-Teen Swim for ages 9-12 only from 7;30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $2 per person for each event. The LCHS Panther football conditioning training is under way. Weight training and conditioning will be Monday-Thursday from 6-8:30 p.m. All Panther football players are encouraged to attend. For more information call coach Kirk Warner at 271-5936.
