Soccer signup
Hinesville Soccer will be registering for its fall soccer program Thursday for our U14 and U19 girls, U16 boys and U8 coed teams. The U19 Athena team will participate in tournaments and the U8 program is an eight-week developmental program. Registration will be at the First Presbyterian Christian Academy fields, enter from Court Street.  A minimum of $25 is required for registration. After-school
Kool Kids for Christ, a free after-school program at St. James Community Center, starts Tuesday and is taking registration. It offers tutoring and sports. School-age children are encouraged to participate, but registration is required. The children will have worship and praise service followed by tutoring or private homework time. They may then participate in 45 minutes of sports before receiving dinner and going home. For more information, visit the center on Holmestown Road or call Ernie Walthour at (912) 980-4559.

Golf tournament
The Hinesville/Fort Stewart Shrine Club will host its 22nd annual golf tournament Sept. 8 at the Cherokee Rose Country Club. Check-in time is 8 a.m. and play begins at 9. The $50 per person fee includes a cart, green fees and lunch. Businesses can be “hole” sponsors for $100, which includes a sign advertising the business. The deadline is Sept. 5. The first 100 to register will play. Proceeds benefit the club’s activities. Call Al Nelson at 876-2391.

Bass club
The Liberty County Bass Club meets monthly and takes periodic trips. Members do not have to have boats. The club is a member of the Georgia Bass Federation and FLW. Call P.J. Schneider at 271-1701 or Keith Causeway at 492-5353.

Table tennis club
The Liberty County Recreation Department is organizing a club for table tennis enthusiasts, ages 8 to adult. The club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. and on Saturdays at 9 a.m., at Shuman Recreation Center, beginning Sept. 11.  Call 876-5359 for additional information.

Bowling

Monday Night Mixed Bowling League will have its league meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 and will bowl afterward. Call Jeff Eastlake at 369-8384 or Marne Lanes at 767-4866.
Fort Stewart Youth Bowling will register bowlers, 3-18 years of age, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Marne Lanes on post. The league will start Sept. 15 at 9:30 a.m. Call Jeff Eastlake at 369-8384 or Marne Lanes at 767-4866 for more information.
A Wednesday Morning Hi/Lo League will be forming at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 5. This is a handicapped doubles league and you draw a new partner every week. If you miss a week you are not charged. All are welcome, men and women. For more information, call LouRae Kobusch at 977-0807.
Seniors, age 50-plus, a Monday Morning Seniors Classic Winter League is forming at Marne Lanes. The mixed, handicapped league welcomes first time and low-average bowlers.
