AUGUSTA — A green jacket that belonged to Masters Tournament co-founder Bobby Jones will be up for auction next month, and auction officials say they expect it to go for more than $100,000.
The jacket will be put up for bid Aug. 4 in conjunction with the Chicago National Sports Show in Rosemont, Ill.
Officials with Heritage Auctions say the jacket dates to 1937, when Augusta National members began wearing them so they could be easily identifiable to patrons who had questions. Auction firm officials say Jones gave the jacket as a gift to the artist who painted his portrait that hangs in the Augusta National clubhouse.
Winners of the Masters began receiving the jacket in 1949.

An Augusta National spokesman told the Augusta Chronicle the club had no comment on the auction.
