Georgia Southern announced Tuesday that WBMZ 103.7 The Boomer will serve as the flagship station for the Georgia Southern Radio Network for the upcoming 2011-12 season. The station is owned and operated by Radio Metter, Inc., and will start airing the preseason edition of “Inside Georgia Southern Football” with coach Jeff Monken in late August.
The game day football broadcasts begin Saturday, Sept. 3, with the Eagles’ season opener at Samford.
The station also will broadcast game coverage of Georgia Southern’s men’s and women’s basketball teams and the baseball team. Weekly coaches shows, featuring men’s basketball coach Charlton Young and women’s basketball coach Rusty Cram, also will air on the flagship station.
“Along with Operations Manager Steve Lawson and the entire staff at 103.7 The Boomer, we are honored to have been selected to be the flagship for Georgia Southern football, basketball, and baseball,” Radio Metter, Inc., owner Jimmy Page said. “We look forward to a great partnership that will allow local Eagle supporters to follow their favorite team on Boomer 103.7.”
Georgia Southern fans also can keep up with Eagle teams through the athletics website, GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com, and receive short updates at Facebook.com/GSAthletics and at Twitter.com/GSAthletics.
