SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Southern Conference has reached a deal to show league football games on public television systems in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Georgia Southern is a member of the SoCon. The agreement runs for the next three seasons and includes Georgia Public Broadcasting, UNC-TV and South Carolina ETV. Those systems will begin the eight-game TV schedule Oct. 1 with Appalachian State at Wofford and run through the end of the regular season.
The league made the announcement Monday. It says the distribution platform will reach nearly
11 million homes through 32 affiliates. League commissioner John Iamarino said the move increases the conferences’ TV reach by 2 million households.
The SoCon’s football members compete in the Football Championship Subdivision.
