The City of Flemington has operated without a millage rate since it was chartered in 1941. Due to the significant growth the city has seen in the last few years, as well as the immediate and projected future growth, the cost of services, infrastructure and other needed projects are increasing and are projected to continue to increase.
The City Council has therefore determined that a millage rate is necessary to continue to fund the maintenance and operational needs of the city and future plans for additional amenities for its residents. Georgia law requires three public hearings on this tax increase. The Flemington City Council will hold two public meetings on its proposed millage rate on December 5, 2024 at noon and at 4 p.m. A third and final meeting will be held on December 12, 2024 at 6 p.m. All meetings will be held at the City of Flemington City Hall located at 156 Old Sunbury Road.
Council plans to adopt the millage rate during a Special Called Meeting on December 17 at 4:30 p.m. at the same location.
