A Liberty County woman sustained minor injuries Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while in her motorized wheelchair.

According to GSP Trooper Chris Ashdown, the woman was crossing Miles Crossing on a painted crosswalk and was struck by a FedEx truck attempting to make a left turn onto Highway 196 shortly before 5 p.m.  When the motorized wheelchair was struck, the woman was ejected from the chair, and the FedEx vehicle ran over the wheelchair.

The driver of the FedEx truck said she was blinded by the sun and did not see the woman crossing the roadway.  The driver was cited for failing to yield.

The woman, who has not been identified, was taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
