Liberty County native Rear Adm. Annie B. Andrews, the third African-American woman to be appointed to that rank, recently spoke to Emerging Young Leaders Program participants about what it takes to make it in life and the military at an event sponsored by Nu Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Sorority.
Andrews, a former student of the Liberty County School System, said she is proud of her beginnings. She emphasized the importance of respect and her desire to be successful. The admiral said she worked her way to the position she holds today and described the challenges she faced throughout her journey.
