Marshall Rainge was recently named the Tattnall Missionary Baptist Association 2017 Layman of the Year.

The announcement was made at the association’s annual Lay Day Service which was held Oct. 22 in Hagan.

TMBA Layman president Deacon James Jones said that Rainge was selected because of his contributions, leadership, stewardship and the many roles he plays within the Laymen Ministry.

Rainge, who is an ordained deacon and member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Hinesville, is active in the Laymen Ministry on the state and regional levels. He is the southern regional coordinator of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia for Regions 1, 2 and 11, which covers 42 counties. He is also the GMBC laymen communication assistant, as well as the laymen memorial coordinator for the Southern Region, which covers five states (Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia).

The Nahunta native said he was humbled by the award.

“I get my strength from being around Godly men,” Rainge said.
