The 16th annual Tybee Polar Plunge, a Jan. 1 tradition at the Tybee Pier and Pavilion, will see more than 1,000 brave souls dash into the waves at noon. The Gang of Goofs Costume Contest and Parade begins at 11 a.m. as groups of three or more don wacky costumes and parade in front of judges. Last year’s Cat and the Hat Crew will be back from Ohio to defend their title from 2015.
