The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce has set the dates for this year's Christmas in the Park and Parade.

The Chamber and Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the ninth annual Christmas in the Park on Monday, Nov. 30 from 5-7:30 p.m. in Bradwell Park in downtown Hinesville.

Christmas in the Park will feature a petting zoo, an electric ride-on train, children’s activity booths provided by various local businesses and nonprofit organizations and — last but not least — Santa. Children will be able to decorate cookies and create make and take crafts. Nonprofit food vendors sell a variety of food.

Entertainment for the evening will include the Liberty Elementary School chorus and drama team, Inspirations Performing Studios and the Girl Scouts. The evening will conclude with the singing of “Silent Night” and the lighting of the community Christmas tree between 7 and 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

There are a few slots left for entertainment. Contact Karen Bell, Christmas in the Park entertainment chairwoman, at msknmrj@coastalnow.net for more information on entertainment. Call the Chamber at 912-368-4445 for more information on Christmas in the Park, or go to www.libertycounty.org to see the Christmas Events 2015.

Christmas Parade

The organizations will host the 19th annual Illuminated Christmas Parade on Friday, Dec. 4, in downtown Hinesville. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s theme, “Superhero Christmas,” was chosen to celebrate the iconic superhero figures that have entertained families for years. Spectators are welcome to bring their own chairs to sit and enjoy the fantastic lights, floats and performances. The route for this year will be a little different, with a new starting point to be announced soon; however, spectators can still sit in their favorite spots from years past and see the parade.

The parade has been held in Hinesville for the past 18 years and showcases businesses, groups and organizations from all over the area. This event has previously attracted more than 15,000 spectators and is televised as well as live streamed on WTOC.

Entries for the parade are being accepted now through Nov. 27, at which point the lineup will be finalized. Pricing for parade entries varies by the number of units and the various deadlines that have been set.

For more information about the parade, contact the Chamber at 368-4445 or go to www.libertycounty.org.
