Members of the nationally known Academy of Arts Drama/Music Ministry, based in Taylors, S.C., are coming to the area for a performance.

Trinity Baptist Church in Ludowici will host the performers at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 13. This event is part of the church’s evangelistic outreach ministry.

Pastor Tim Parrish, who has served as pastor of Trinity since 1998, and the church members are busy preparing for the team. They are spreading the word about the performance and inviting community members to come and enjoy the special time of fellowship.

"Our mission at Trinity Baptist Church is to win people to Christ, get them baptized, teach and train them and help save America," Parrish said. "We want to reach the whole community. We are a big happy church. It is God’s church. Everybody is important. God changed me, and I know He can change others. The church is a hospital. We all struggle, and we need God to help us."

The Academy of Arts is a Christian college, drama and music ministry that was organized in 1971. Members have ministered in more than 1,000 churches in 27 states to more than 50,000 people each year.

Dr. Nicky Chavers, founder and director of the Academy of Arts Drama/Music Ministry, said he believes the arts were created by God and so should glorify Him. The Academy of Arts Ministry has a solid, Biblical orientation and teaches students that they can and should serve God with their talents.

Chavers taught at the college level for five years, pastored a church for 12 years and has received honorary degrees for his contributions to Christian education in the drama and music fields. He has written numerous plays and musicals on Biblical, historic, missionary and moral themes.

Members of the Academy of Arts Drama/Music teams are not chosen solely by their acting or musical talents. They are chosen on the basis of their character, conviction and spiritual maturity.

Members are picked from among approximately 5,000 high school students, who are involved in more than 35 drama seminars and drama camps, which the academy directs each year. The academy’s productions convey a powerful Biblical message. Team members are trained to be soul winners and to counsel those in spiritual need.
