In 2 Timothy 2:2, I see what I would describe as a teaching cycle, where those being taught turn around and teach others what they have learned so that they, in turn, will have the ability and knowledge to teach yet others.
The Apostle Paul encourages this when he says, “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” The writer is mainly speaking of spiritual things, but the same principle is played out in everyday life.
The other day, I was listening to one of my grandsons talking to his little sister while she was learning to ride her bike. He was repeating the same things he had been taught when he was trying to learn. My guess is that if she has a friend, neighbor, cousin, or maybe a little brother or sister who comes along who is trying to learn to ride their bike, she will give some of the same advice.
As Christians, we have been entrusted with the very words that give life. In other words, someone spoke to us about Jesus, and it is our privilege and responsibility to share this good news with others who can tell yet others.
May God help us to intentionally get involved in a teaching cycle that can change the world one person at a time.
